Airport Security: Time For A New Flight Plan – In a savory bit of irony, a former head of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has become one of the agencys most high-profile critics. Techwise Conversations host Steven Cherry talks with Kip Hawley, who has written a book called, Permanent Emergency: Inside the TSA and the Fight for the Future of American Security. Hawley criticizes the continued adherence to many of the rules and procedures the TSA instituted or modified on his watch including strict limits on liquids, gels, and aerosols; and mandatory shoe removal. But he also sheds light on the things, including spasmodic Congressional activity and airline baggage fees, that have made securing airport checkpoints much more challenging.
