ABSTRACT

In this project the system is made to control a buildings internal devices by a local network using a web browser where there are sensors that monitor the conditions inside a certain room. The modules are designed using an Arduino and ESP8266 module and is controlled using a raspberry pi. The Arduino’s functions inside the system include retrieving data from the sensors and activating or deactivating the actuators which are relays. Data is sent using the ESP8266 wirelessly through the router. The raspberry pi will process the data retrieved from the sensors and issue commands to the actuators that are connected to the Arduino. The actuators can be controlled automatically or manually. In automatic mode, the actuators will activate and deactivate depending on the sensors values. While in manual mode, the actuators can be freely activated or deactivated by the user. The rate of success on the commands issued to the actuators reach 96%, where the power of the signals on the router affect the rate of success. The conditions on the sensors and actuators are monitored using a TFT LCD display on the raspberry pi.
