The beauty of compressive sensing

When you buy a digital camera, the number of pixels (resolution) is one of the most important criteria. As we all know: the more, the better. However, these high-resolution images usually need to be compressed to save storage space. Have you ever wondered that: “isn’t that a waste of the capability of the sensor?” or “ is there a way for the sensor to acquire sufficient information with only minimum redundancy?” The answer is: compressive sensing.
