On May 23, 2025, a collaborative guest lecture was successfully conducted between the Computer Engineering Department of BINUS University and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, under the theme “AI for Productive Coding.” This session marked an ongoing international academic partnership aimed at enhancing cross-border knowledge in the field of technology and education.

This session featured Mr. Wiedjaja Atmadja, S.Kom., M.Kom., a faculty member of Computer Engineering BINUS University, as the invited speaker. He delivered an insightful presentation on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be leveraged to improve coding productivity, with a special focus on the use of GitHub Copilot within Visual Studio Code (VSCode).

Participants were guided through the underlying concepts of Copilot, how to integrate it into daily programming workflows, and real-world use cases where AI-assisted coding significantly boosts efficiency without compromising code quality. The session was engaging and practical, featuring live demonstrations and helpful tips suitable for both beginners and more advanced users.

The event was moderated by Ms. Nur Atharah Kamarzaman from the School of Electrical Engineering, UiTM, and attended by students from UiTM’s Electrical Engineering Department. Conducted entirely online via Zoom, the lecture enabled broad participation and direct interaction between the speaker and students across regions.

Through academic collaborations like this, students are expected not only to gain updated technical knowledge but also to be inspired to further explore the role of AI in modern software development.
